I have tried them all and - of course it is a matter of personal requirements - have settled on MonsterGallery.
https://plugins.bludit.com/plugin/monster-gallery
I am working on a bunch of mods that will make it even better - but don't hold your breath on that

It may take a few more ?weeks.
It is easy enough to test the offers available.

Do you happen to have it live on any site where I can see it in action?

Short answer = no. And even if I referred all you would see is the user side - with images and you click and browse. Although captions was something I wanted. What matters most, for me, is the admin side.
One of the things I really like about Bludit is the ease with which you can set up a test site. I always recommend localhost (using xampp). I have a stripped down install with my standard elements and... drop it in to a new htdocs folder... bingo. Add a plugin, play about. I burnt a few demos over the last while
The only way for you to know what you like is to try it. Activate - deactivate... nothing really lost.

Hi!
I built this image viewing script into Bludit!
https://fotorama.io/ Very easy and good to use. The script is completely free and has many configuration options.

Hi,
A few years ago Google found me a blog post about how to use Nanogallery2 on a Bludit site. I used that on
https://ko.vangraas.nl/opdefiets/ . Unfortunately Google (and I) can't find this blog post anymore.

The URL is there - but it is not a plugin. It is nicely simple but you have to configure it your self into a page... include the css, js and build a div of images. There are indeed lots of options and it works fine but there is no admin UI; everything is manual - ftp images, etc.
It could be fairly easily worked into a plugin but... there are existing alternatives.

Its operation is very simple. If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to show you, and I'll explain how to use it easily. You really have to set it up manually, but after that it's easy to use. Only one template needs to be modified when writing the article. And the pictures have to be renamed. The advantage is that many images can be embedded as a slide show. This is how all sliders work here:
