Mirroring the documentation

Are there any known Bludit Documentation mirrors?

I'm seeing the Cloudflare proxy error quite frequently and figured maybe there should be an official mirror. I'd be happy to contribute, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I fully support this suggestion. Personally I would really like an offline version of docs - fully allowing that updates would be a question but, enough for a relative newbie like me to be getting on.

I see there is another post "docs are down" and indeed it has been on/off for quite some weeks now.

I fully appreciate the free nature of bludit so am not by any means complaining but... how difficult would it be to stitch up an html set - or even localhost? I have time to give but... some kind of 'green light' would be encouraging. There are about 60 pages.

Admin????
Does this seem an OK project?

as always - thanks

I think something like:

Code: Select all

wget --mirror --convert-links --adjust-extension --page-requisites
--no-parent http://docs.bludit.com/en/
would make a reasonable mirror. I can dump it anywhere, if it's OK by the people in charge :-)

Wow - I am impressed by such code. It is the weekend now so perhaps leave it a few days and just go for it. It seems not an unreasonable move. My last couple of visits see the site loading OK. Even so... it seems an easy backup sol'n.

There have been about 100 views of this. Perhaps a sense of community view could be garnered?

Did this go anywhere? There have certainly been no objections :)

I came across this:
https://github.com/bludit/documentation-english
A collection of *.md files - which I am not sure how to implement. A collection of pages could be built using easyMDE but that is work :) - any suggests?

@joho
Did you receive any communication on your suggestion of mirroring? I see there is another post (duplicate) bemoaning the sever absence.

I used the gitHub documentation and wrote a converter to build an html set. It works totally offline with no dependencies; other than a .css

https://bodhinyanarama.net.nz/temp/bl-documentation.zip
about 140kb

I find it helpful and hope it might be of use to others.

No, no response thus far...

@joho
If there has been no objection I see no reason why not to set the mirror you suggested. Having said that I have been on the .com site several times over the last week (partly checking the correctness of my html set ) and it seems stable.

Basically, where is the harm in having a mirror?
go for it :)

I added bludit.com to my monitoring service.
