simple news board solution

I'm wondering about a solution for adding a short news on homepage, or one of the static pages. It might resemble a twitter wall for posting short informations.
Not more than creation date and 1-2 sentences.
I doubt there's such plugin. The problem is that making use of bludit's (overall any CMS) page creation workflow is too complicated for posting a short message so I wonder if anyone had similar need and how did he solve it.

I could go with creating and editing one page, but that has its own flaws and I won't go in that direction. Any ideas? :roll:

too much hassle with separating them from default blog posts, setting post options for entry with 1-2 sentences (I need only date and content), disabling seo, hiding categories from being accessed etcetera etcetera etc. As I mentioned at the beginning, default blog workflow is too complicated for managing such short entries.

It's more like a simple, daily journal.
