Portfolio theme and search box

When I activate the search box plugin, it does not appear when using this theme, nor does the categories plugin for that matter.
How can I fix this?

Okay, in case anyone is interested, I modified the Search plugin version 3.17.2 so that custom fields are interpreted during searches.
In the native version, it is the shortcodes that appear and not their values.
It works, at least on the portfolio theme I use.
