What problems do you have with Disqus?

There is also a plugin for Vanilla Forums:

Bludit Plugins

Another for Facebook Comments:

[Plugin] Facebook Tools

And another one for ElkArte:

BetterSitemap [Plugin] + Use ElkArte as comment system [WIP]

1) You have to sign up for an account at

https://disqus.com

2) After sign in go to the bottom of the page to "Ready to install Disqus?", follow the steps (you have not to select a platform) and complete the setup.

3) Click "Settings" in den admin bar. There you can find the shortname, that is used to identify your website.

4) Go to you Bludit installation, activate the plugin Disqus, go to the configuration and enter the shortname.

Late reply: I have huge problems with it. Disqus is a data protection and GDPR mess. Though they claim to have been GDPR compliant since 2018, they obviously aren't. Just last year, they had to pay a fine of 2.5 million € for that. I won't use a comment system, which isn't fully GDPR compliant and puts me at risk of getting fined myself. Every external comment system bares that risk. But I've just found snicker. I will give it a try.

Update: Snicker doesn't work anymore. A solution not depending on external services, of which you don't know, if they are compliant with European GDPR, is desperately needed.

What does not work?

Other options are for example:

ISSO Client

Snicker doesn't even appear in the list of inactive plugins. There are several reports, that it doesn't work with Bludit 3.x anymore. ISSO looks like a good alternative, as you can set it up on your own server/webspace. I will give it a try. Thanks.

Update: The ISSO client breaks Bludit completely. Frontend and backend show a white page. No PHP errors. No unusual entries in the error_log. Just a white page. *sigh* Now I'm trying Vanilla. A bit more work with Nginx.
