Bludit as Android App

Hellow,

I'm currently playing with Dart using the Flutter Framework and Android Studio as IDE. I really don't want to promise anything, but theoretically it may be possible that this experiment results in a working / usable Android Application for Bludit based Websites (Android only, because I don't own any Apple device. Sorry!). This was the first experimental "view"

Other Content Management Systems, such as WordPress, already has such an Application for their community websites, so why shouldn't Bludit have that too. ;D

The current theory includes the following features
  • Show / Write / Manage your Pages and Drafts
  • Show / Write / Manage registered Users
  • Manage the Bludit Core settings
  • View some statistics
  • Get notified on new comments (works with the Snicker plugin only)
The extended version of my theory may contains also the possibility to manage multiple websites through one application. The master version of my theory may supports also to "subscribe" to different bludit-based websites, which would result into a community-driven network (such as tumblr or wordpress.com, with the exception that everyone hosts their bludit website itself). That would be really cool, but... I'll try to keep it simple... At least for now, I'm new at Dart and Flutter D:

I'm just asking here if you would be interested into such an application and if yes, which feature did you want to see there next to the ones above?

And please don't forget: It's currently just a theoretically experiment. I'm not sure, if I've enough time (and if I'm capable at all) to finish this. :D

Sincerely
Sam.

Hellow,

There is currently no real proof of concept, it's all theoretical ;). The only thing I can show you are the real first Alpha views:

The "Login" Screen

The design may changes in future builds, as I said, I'm really new at Flutter / Material Design / Anrdoid Applications. :D

Sincerely,
Sam.

Nice draft. But what is the advantage of an app? The existing admin panel also works on mobiles.

Hellow,

Thanks, and I don't really know what advantages this app may can offer.

I'm trying to support multiple Bludit based websites, so you don't need to switch between multiple admin pages, but I guess that is just a nice to have feature for a few people.

It would be really cool to create a small blog network, such as blogspot, WordPress.com or tumblr just that each Bludit blog is hosted for its own. So it may promotes good content, like the Bludit showcase website.

And Maybe it will also support some other nice or useful functions. But my main Goal with this app is to just learn Dart, Flutter and App development In general. And even If this app just points a few newcomers to Bludit itself, it would be enough advantage for me.

So... Im still open for cool features to make this app unique and more useful. :3

Sincerely,
Sam.

PS.: It is also just an experiment, I don't know if this gonna happen. This post was also just to ask, which features you may would love to see within such an App.

I too have plan to make an app, although for the iOS side. Well actually, the original idea was a Mac app. Since I'm an iOS developer, and marzipan just around the corner, thought I wait a bit.

Though my main idea was to implement the whole API endpoint. No login required, just paste in the token, and off you go. But the basic functionality is very similar to OP, at this time I still write everything in Bear, then copy and paste it to Bludit. If I can just write directly to Bludit through the app, could be a great idea.

Also one of the thing that I miss after moving my blog from Tumblr is that being able to preview my post on the site directly while editing the content, having the app being able to that could be awesome too. Like having a markdown editor with side by side view with your theme applied to the result rather than just a plain html.

Hellow,

Marzipan sounds yummy, also for iOS developers.

Diego is currently working on an improved API endpoint solution, including an API Token authentification or authorization or something like that. So I'm really looking forward to his core implementation for developing the application.

The feature to "preview content on the theme itself before publishing" has also already been requested, and may comes also in future updates.

So It's just a matter of time :D

Sincerely,
Sam.

I think if you are making it for multiple Bludit sites like you mentioned, like the WP mobile app does currently, that would be a very useful tool for admins/builders managing multiple clients.

The development of this or that application is quite interesting, but time-consuming in most cases. It does not matter what platform you develop for, for android or for ios. The most important thing, as far as I am concerned, is a total analysis of the site and the niche you want to get into. In simple words, studying algorithms, analyzing the relevance of the issue for future consumers. And do not forget that for some it is a business, and for some it is just a hobby. For me personally, studying such issues is a hobby. My business is in another area, such as here. Who's interested, you can check it out!)
