It depends on your redirection rules on domain's root directory. If you installed bludit in a nested dir (assuming /articles) it should work w/o any problems. Check wheter disabling in root dir .htaccess along with index.php file solves the "problem" with bludit. ps. without seeing php err...

A simple input field in plugin's options allowing to set a custom class would be more than enough. This reminds me one of the basic configuration options for modules in joomla cms.

Depending on the text editor you use, just insert the pdf as an image into article, copy its link, and use a hyperlink button to paste the copied link to point to the pdf along with its title.
