The main reason i have for use OLW is the Automatic Linking, with that i can "link" with an url a single word or phrase... ie tags or keywords, better for the SEO, for the search engines and of course, for the reader :P

Currently, OpenLiveWriter does not support Markdown syntax and so no formatting will be passed on to the post. There are some devs that are working on implementing MD support into OLW however, there isn't a current timeframe.

I never use MD for post nothing... But i know... is a great system :D ...

You can use other text editor as ckeditor (look in the plugins forum) and then you can use tables for that
