Done. Downgraded to 7.0, no errors.
But it does not work anyway ... I always get:

Ein Fehler ist beim Versenden der Nachricht aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es später noch einmal.

I use the plugin also, and have no problems.

Can you please mail me a ZIP of the installation.

Your installation works on my side.

Do other mails work ("Email access code" etc.)?

Is there an entry in the error log?

Thank you Fred. It must be a problem with the server configuration. I tested the installation with PHP 7, and it works without any problems.

Email access code works.
What error log ?

There should be an error log for the server.

I have problems with this plugin and the theme Business Casual. The styling problems I ccould fix.
Now when I sent the form I didn't get the info box that the message is delivered.

Also the form is not cleared. How can I fix that?
